2016 Cote de Brouilly, Domaine de la Voute des Crozes, Chanrion, Cru Beaujolais
Vivid ruby. Red berry liqueur, floral and incense aromas, along with hints of allspice, licorice and smoky minerals. Silky and seamless on the palate, offering vibrant raspberry, cherry, spicecake and lavender flavors that deepen and become spicier with air. Smoothly balances richness and finesse and closes with strong, mineral-driven intensity, subtle tannins and excellent length.
Trained as an oenologist in Beaune followed by an internship in California, Nicole Chanrion took over her father’s 6.5 hectare domaine in 1988. Independently driven, she is involved in everything from tending the vineyards and working in the winery, to bottling and selling her wines. Preferring to follow more traditional methods of winemaking, Nicole encourages the wine to be fermented in large oak foudres and bottled without filtration.
